At 25 years old, I have finally moved to the mountains, fulfilling my childhood dream. As a new Colorado resident, here's my to-do list: ski often, learn how to fly fish, buy a bike (because who wants to run, really?), find a camping spot, hike new trails (with my pup, of course), experience new views, and explore the great outdoors. #GETOUTSIDE
Q: What has been your favorite vacation? Why?
A: As an avid skier, I would have to say my favorite annual vacation is visiting my aunt in Crested Butte, Colorado. I love it when my family is reunited – especially in the mountains!
Q: What outdoor activities do you enjoy the most?
A: Colorado skiing, Palo Duro Canyon hiking, and surfing at Lake Tanglewood!
Q: What haven’t you accomplished that you aspire to do in your lifetime?
A: I really want to visit Hawaii and Alaska.
Q: Prettiest State Park?
A: I may be biased, but Palo Duro Canyon – DUH!
Q: What has been your favorite adventure? Why?
A: Once on a summer road trip to Colorado with a group of friends, we drove past this huge, historic-looking castle on the side of the road and knew we had to stop. So, we made a U-turn and climbed all through what we now know as Bishop Castle. It’s a must see!
Q: Favorite road trip?
A: A group of my friends drove from Amarillo, Texas, to Destin, Florida. That is a 16-and-a-half-hour drive. And it was easily one of my favorite trips! We listened to ‘Send me on my way’ by Rusted Root close to 15 times on the drive – still a jam.
Q: What point in your life inspired a love of the outdoors?
A: My Genepa, Gene Hill, started Hill’s Sports Shop, a local bike & ski shop in Amarillo that became quite popular. He also owned a ranch on the outskirts of town where I grew up fishing, swimming, gathering treasure, and tending the animals.
Q: Favorite hiking trail?
A: My favorite PDC hiking trail starts as a hiking trail, and slowly becomes more of a ‘climb’ to the top. The view is unbeatable and very worth it, but you must be very careful!
Q: What are you secretly good at?
A: I’m not secretly good at anything. I’m publicly good at everything.
Q: What’s your favorite band at the moment?
A: I’m more of an indie artist lover myself. My favorite artists right now are Noah Kahan, Noah Cyrus (two Noah’s?), and Zach Bryan.
Q: What are 3 must-haves for a camping trip?
A: Tent, drinks and snacks (especially s’mores), and a sleeping bag!
