Zach Long

Age: 25

Hometown: Lubbock, Texas

There's no place I'd rather be than outside with an incredible view. I grew up hiking and camping with my family and try to escape to the outdoors every chance I get.

Q: What has been your favorite vacation? Why?

A: My favorite vacation destination is Grand Cayman which I’ve been to twice now. I’m a huge ocean lover and spend hours and hours snorkeling!

Q: What outdoor activities do you enjoy the most?

A: I love hiking and camping. Big Bend is one of my favorite places, and the best hikes I’ve been on have been through the Oregon rainforest. Nothing like eating a PB&J when you summit a mountain.

Q: Prettiest State Park?

A: Hands down the prettiest state park I’ve been to is Silver Falls in Oregon. Incredible trails with towering trees and waterfalls – what’s not to love?

Q: Where’s your next trip?

A: My next trip planned is my honeymoon returning once again to Oregon. We’re planning on some hiking with several destinations along the Oregon coast before staying in Olympia National Park in Washington.

Q: Dream trip?

A: I’ve made it to most of the places I’ve always wanted to go, but Japan and New Zealand are still at the top of my list of must-see places.

Q: What point in your life inspired a love of the outdoors?

A: Instead of big vacations growing up, my family would camp everywhere. My dad was an Eagle Scout and passed down his love of the outdoors to his kids.

Q: Guilty pleasure?

A: I can’t resist trashy reality TV shows.

Q: What are you secretly good at?

A: I was trumpet section leader back in high school and can still play pretty well.

Q: Peanut butter. Crunchy or smooth?

A: I’ll take either, but I’ll always choose crunchy over smooth.

Q: What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?

A: Deer’s heart thanks to my zealous hunter brother-in-law and escargot in Paris.
